SPOTLIGHT: MONTAUK BREWING COMPANY

From 2017–2021, I served as a core member of both the marketing and operations functions during a period of significant expansion. As the company scaled distribution and introduced new product lines, I played a key role in evolving the visual identity across packaging, limited releases, and retail environments.

My work spanned brand development, packaging design, point-of-sale systems, and marketing collateral — ensuring visual consistency while supporting operational growth and category expansion. Partnering closely with leadership and production teams, I translated business objectives into cohesive brand systems that lived across cans, taprooms, retail shelves, and promotional materials.

Brand Expansions

Core + Seasonal Launches

As Montauk expanded its portfolio, we introduced both year-round and seasonal products. From the earliest stages, I contributed to creative concepting, helping shape color direction, geometric structure, tone, and overall system architecture.

Beyond visual development, I worked closely with the founder to forecast sales and align production schedules — coordinating ingredient planning, can purchases, and packaging quantities. I collaborated with multiple vendors to design and produce trays, cartons, tap handles, and printed materials, ensuring deliveries aligned precisely with brewing and packaging timelines.

My role spanned both creative and operational execution, including:

  • Contributing to packaging concept development (color, form, tone, and scalable structure)

  • Proofreading and finalizing all on-can copy

  • Creating and managing SKUs and UPC codes

  • Coordinating with printers and packaging vendors

  • Aligning creative timelines with production forecasting and distribution needs

The result was a flexible packaging system that supported both evergreen and seasonal growth — allowing the brand to scale while maintaining cohesion and clarity at shelf.

Launching Montauk Hard Seltzer

As consumer demand shifted toward hard seltzers, Montauk expanded beyond beer to enter a new and highly competitive category. The initiative required building a compliant, scalable product system from the ground up — on an accelerated timeline to meet peak summer demand.

From early concept development through production execution, I contributed to shaping the visual identity and packaging system across four original SKUs, later expanding into four lemonade extensions. The goal was to create a distinct yet connected brand expression — modern and differentiated, while still rooted in Montauk’s established equity.

In parallel with creative development, I led critical operational components of the launch. Entering a new beverage category required navigating federal labeling regulations distinct from beer compliance standards.

My role included:

  • Contributing to packaging concept development and scalable system architecture

  • Proofreading and finalizing all on-can and carton copy

  • Researching and applying federal labeling regulations for a new beverage category

  • Creating and managing SKUs and UPC codes

  • Sourcing 16oz cans, trays, and outer cartons (all different from 12oz cans used for beer)

  • Coordinating vendors to align production timelines with summer distribution targets

The full launch — from concept to shelf — was executed in seven months, enabling Montauk to enter the category with speed, clarity, and brand cohesion.

Brand Assets

Investor and Board Deck

Created for a quarterly investor and board meeting, this deck distilled brand performance, media visibility, and cultural traction into a clear, executive-level narrative. I independently researched and curated the content to support strategic discussions around growth and positioning.

Content Gallery

A collection of social content, blog posts, event materials, taproom menus, print advertising, and point-of-sale assets developed to maintain a cohesive brand presence across channels.

Following Montauk’s established visual identity, tone, and overall look and feel, I created assets that could be leveraged across the company — ensuring consistency from digital storytelling to retail and on-site environments. Each piece reinforced the brand’s coastal, lifestyle-driven presence beyond the can.
